The Color Purple (2023)
On Christmas Day 2023 the reprised musical of the popular classic, The Color Purple, will open in theaters! This musical drama has been a stage play since 2005. The reprisal has kept the same tempo of the original 1982 movie, but introduces different actors.
Fantasia Barrino plays Celie, the main character and Halle Bailey plays her sister, Nettie. Corey Hawkins landed the role of Harpo. Then, Danielle Brooks plays the role of Sofia and Colman Domingo as Mister. The talented and lovely Taraji P. Henson is casted as Shug.
In addition, Louis Gossett Jr., H.E.R., Ciara, David Alan Grier, Tamela J. Mann, Phylicia Mpasi, Deon Cole, Stephen Hill, Aunjanue Ellis, Elizabeth Marvel and Jon Batiste all joined the cast.
As the original directors, Steven Speilberg and Quincy Jones are back as producers of this movie, along with Oprah Winfrey and Scott Sanders.
December 25, 2023 The Color Purple will release in theaters under Warner Bros. Pictures distribution.
